Hard Rock Cafe Wedding 7/27/08

It takes a unique couple to book their wedding at the Hard Rock Cafe in La Jolla. Cool relaxed vibe where everyone can enjoy themselves. Great music is a must! Rancho Bernardo Inn Wedding 7/26/08

This was an amazing wedding at the Rancho Bernardo Inn - Bernardo Ballroom that was given to me as a referral from a photographer. The ceremony was out on the Promenade which has a great view of the golf course. Guests moved up to the outdoor patio for cocktail hour and then inside for dinner / dancing. I provided the slideshow equipment for a great photo session after dinner. They had a great looking all purple candy bar out near the bar. SUGAR!!! We kicked things off with dancing and about 200 out of the 225 guests were out on the dancefloor. The music didn't stop until the last dance! Excellent dancing crowd. 9 out of 10.

Bahia Resort Wedding 7/19/08

The Bahia Resort on Mission Bay is great for many reasons. They have some nice outdoor locations for the ceremony and the Mission Ballroom up at the top of the tower has excellent views of the sunset and Sea World fireworks during the summer. The ceremony today was outside at the pond gazebo area. During the cocktail hour I noticed something different... All of the guests had custom orange koozies on their drink glass that the bride & groom made with a saying "To have and to hold, to keep your drink cold!" along with their names, date, and an image. Sort of fun to see throughout the night. Ice cream was served after the main entree! I helped provide some equipment for the "secret slideshow" the maid of honor put together. This was an excellent dancing crowd... 9 out of 10!

Tom Ham's Lighthouse Wedding 7/18/08

Tonight I was over at Tom Ham's Lighthouse on Harbor Island and was the third wedding I have done for this family. The ceremony was out on the deck which has one of the best views of downtown and the bay. During the reception I provided the projection equipment for a nice slideshow. Guests always enjoy seeing funny, unique, and memorable photos from the past.

Best Meeting Ever

I don't normally add comments like this but I couldn't resist. A few minutes ago I just had one of the best meetings ever. What made this meeting special was the fact that it was with a couple that I DJ'd their wedding exactly 10 years ago. They contacted me because they are now throwing a big 40th birthday party (and maybe a renewal of vows quick/fun ceremony - an idea we came up with in the meeting) We got talking and I mentioned that I sometimes find it difficult to find a "greater purpose or meaning" in what I do as a DJ. They responded in a way that I always hope for with each couple... I had made such an impact on their wedding that guests still bring it up today. I was able to start their lives off together as a married couple with great fun memories and we created a vision or signature for them to look back on during difficult times. Sort of like a foundation for them to start building on as a couple. There is hope for the DJ.

Kona Kai Resort Wedding 7/12/08

The Kona Kai Resort is always a nice location to have a wedding. This weekend they had their ceremony and cocktail hour outside on the patio, and reception inside. The lighting helped the all tan room and brought some color to the walls. Their video/slideshow was one of the best I have ever viewed. Absolutely hilarious! I knew it was going to be a great night when they started dancing before dinner was served. We ended up going a half hour overtime because they would not stop dancing... Always a good sign.

NACE Meeting - San Diego Zoo 7/8/08

This month's N.A.C.E. (National Association of Catering Executives) meeting was held at the San Diego Zoo. The theme was team building and community service within the wedding industry. We divided up into teams and built bikes for kids in need. The kids showed up later on in the evening and we had the chance to personally give the bike to them. Pretty cool experience. It was also a great time to catch up with friends and also meet some new vendors in the wedding world.

La Costa Resort Wedding 7/5/08

4th of July holiday weekend wedding at La Costa Resort & Spa. This was a large 260 person wedding in the Poinsettia Ballroom that stretched out over 8 1/2 hours with the ceremony and reception. (tired feet...) This was a referral from one of my wedding couples from about a year ago. The Candy Bar and Cigar Bar were unique.
